During the Japanese occupation, about 400 people in Korea, who were forced to Battleship Island to mine coal, tried to escape.

A named Lee Kang-Ok played by Hwang Jung-Min is an orchestra leader at Kyungsung Hotel. He decided to go to Japan to protect his daughter, but he was consulted into Battleship Island by force, tricked by talks to send him to Japan. At Battleship Island, he does everything to protect his daughter.

On the other hand there is Choi Chil-Sung played by So Ji-Sub is the best fighter in Kyungsung (which is now Seoul City). He made trouble on Battleship Island, but he has a warm heart.

Park Moo-Young was played by Song Joong-Ki belonging to the Korean Independence group. He sneaks into Battleship Island to rescue members of his independence group. Although they are different but have the same purpose.
